Fungal infections are common in succulents. They can be caused by too frequent watering, high humidity, heavy, poorly-draining soil, and/or containers lacking drainage holes. They can present in a number of ways, including a thin, white dusting, a thick layer of grey fuzz, a rusty red mottling, and even a cracked, beige to dark brown scabbing on the leaves. Treatments

  • Remove any dead or dying plant parts (clean scissors with bleach before and after)
  • Allow to dry completely
  • Apply an anti-fungal e.g. neem oil, copper fungicide, or a solution of baking soda and water
  • Reduce watering frequency
  • Add a fan to improve air circulation
  • When watering, water the soil directly and gently shake excess droplets from leaves
