What is an NPK Ratio?Updated 3 years ago

NPK is an acronym where N = nitrogen, P = phosphorus and K = potassium. These three elements are vital to the growth of plants and, therefore, a staple of many fertilizers. An NPK ratio will tell you about the percent by weight of those three elements in the fertilizer.

For instance, an NPK ratio of 3-10-15 is 3% nitrogen by weight, 10% phosphorus by weight, and 15% potassium by weight.

Succulents prefer a balanced fertilizer, which means the numbers of the NPK ratio are equal (i.e. 10-10-10). They also prefer lower numbers as they are susceptible to fertilizer burns. You’ll love lower numbers too as you won’t need to spend as much time diluting your fertilizer!
